The Rose Street Foundry's 120 Year Old Tile Mosaic Murals

Talk by Eileen MacAskill

Dingwall Community Centre. Organised by ARCH. Suggested donation £3

Eileen MacAskill will describe iron work elsewhere in Scotland and Inverness, will look at why iron works were established in Inverness when all the pig iron had to be imported, and will also consider why one, The Rose Street Foundry, saw off all other local iron works and was so successful that it could afford to commission a new warehouse and offices at the corner of Rose Street and Academy Street and decorate this building with tile mosaic murals made and brought all the way from Shropshire in 1896.
